The idea of green beer has never really been that appealing to me but the festive fun surrounding St. Patrick’s Day is something I look forward to each year. So the ScrapPop Popstars have compiled a few fun ideas to help everyone feel a wee bit Irish this St. Patrick’s Day! The Sparkling Shamrock Cocktail I like this recipe from Happy Healthy and Motivated is refreshing, fun and takes less than 5 minutes to make. And who doesn't love a creative use of a garnish? Mike's March … [Read more...]
The Banyan Tunic-a pattern review
Well Hello. I am so excited about this pattern! It's the Banyan Top & Tunic from Figgy's Patterns available at Go To Patterns.com (affiliate link) Here is the cover shot for the pattern. As you can see, it comes with a "boys" and a "girls" option, and tunic or tee length for the girls. Georgia already has a top like this from Old Navy or Target or something, and I love it on her, but it's a little too short to wear with leggings, and I was already trying to work out how to hack a … [Read more...]
Easy Lunchbox Napkins: with or without a serger
Back to school this year is just about as late as it can be-September 8th! This year, my daughter is in first grade, and since she eats about 4 things, I pack her lunches for her. I decided to go green ( and cheap) and use some scrap fabric to make her some lunchbox size napkins. I'll show you two ways to do it. ( with and without a serger) The first, fastest way: Step 1: Cut out some 7" squares of quilters cotton fabric. (You can make these the same on both sides, or mix it up a … [Read more...]
Kick, Splash, Go — Teen Titans Kiddie Pool Kickball!
It’s Birthday party time for our kids and I couldn’t say no when they all requested a game of Kiddie Pool Kickball! For those not yet familiar, you essentially set up a kickball field using kiddie pools for bases and slip and slides for the base paths. The game was fun for all. The younger kids enjoyed every aspect from wanting to beat the so-called “grown-ups” to sliding, splashing and watching the hilarity as folks misjudged bases, slipped and fell. I think the grandparents had the most … [Read more...]
Daddy’s t-shirt upcycle and a pattern review.
I GOT A SERGER FOR MY BIRTHDAY!!!!! After, I'm not kidding, YEARS of dropping hints to my husband, and explaining what a serger is at least a jillion times, my man came through. Freakin love that guy...Here's the first thing I made: I used the Costal Craze Baggies pattern by Peekaboo Pattern shop and I love how they came out. So, I started with this t-shirt someone gave my husband, because it was my first time with both the pattern, and the serger. Normally, I'm not a fan of alcohol … [Read more...]
It’s JAWSOME – Shark Themed Pool Party
A summer birthday celebration was made easy by hosting a private party at our pool a couple years ago. Rules didn’t allow for too many decorations so we had to get a wee bit creative to bring out our theme, but I think the kids had a GREAT time! Food: We served fish filled jello cups, shark shaped fruit salad, veggies, chips and chum (watermelon kool-aid). TIP: When carving any shape out of a watermelon, the first step should be flattening what will become the bottom so that it can … [Read more...]
Derby Party Win!
Thank you for some of the fun ideas and all the encouragement as I planned our Derby Party. After sharing so many of the pre-party projects along the way, I wanted to also share some of the party updates. I might be biased but I think the party decor was fun and festive. In addition to the vinyl horses and tissue pom horseshoe wreath you might have seen on Instagram, we also added paper lanterns and some circle garland from the Paper Lantern Store. Once again, 3M command hooks saved the day … [Read more...]
Mickey Monday – Monsters University Birthday Party!
I say Monsters, you say Party! Our family can't get enough Disney, and birthday parties are a fun way to bring some of the Disney magic to life for our kids. I should start off saying this wasn't your typical 1st birthday party of grown-ups ooo-ing and aww-ing over the birthday toddler. We did have a gaggle of children and adults to entertain. Most of the kids in attendance were over the age of 4 so we decided to make it fun for all with a little Monsters University Orientation including … [Read more...]
The Pop-Up Party!
More often that not it seems that as our age increases, the enthusiasm or effort around birthday celebrations decrease. I know in my circle of friends and family we tend to use a birthday as an excuse to go out for celebratory food and drinks -- YUM. But I am going to show you that it doesn’t mean you can’t get a little crafty and add some flair for extra fun! It was KerPop’s birthday and we thought we would surprise her with a little family outing. As any busy mother of three does on a … [Read more...]
