Sunday Funday – Superbowl Snacks!

Screen Shot 2015-01-29 at 5.29.01 PMIt’s Superbowl weekend and I am sure folks are going crazy in Seattle and Boston – right FinPop? Here in Chicago, the game is not anywhere near as exciting without our beloved Bears. However, Chicagoans never miss an excuse for a party, or an excuse for some great party food. Those that know me, know that there is always a reason to get excited about the food that comes along with watching those can’t miss commercials.

Our annual Superbowl party hosts have put our party on hold until 2016 (Da Bears!), so I started to look for some low maintenance and fun ideas for our family to enjoy here it home.  I  thought I would share a few here for anyone else looking for some quick, easy, and yummy fun.

You can also access all the items below on my Pinterest Board for further instructions if available. And yes, if you must know, I can still sing the Superbowl shuffle but I will spare you!

My absolute favorite is the Nachos Bar idea pinned by The Magical Slow Cooker. This would be easy to customize with your family’s favorite toppings and would allow for Nacho snacking all day. If you want to Superbowl-ify it, you could add a brown construction paper wrapper to the crockpot with some white tape laces to make it look like a football.  YES, I LOVE NACHOS!

Screen Shot 2015-01-29 at 4.14.25 PMOpen bags of chips, or the constant refilling of bowls seems to be pretty standard at Superbowl parties. Why not make it easy for folks to carry around their favorites for snacking? Check out this idea from the Hostess with the Mostess Blog that simply uses those brown school lunch bags and a little white duct tape. (For you crafty types I am thinking some washi tape might be in order!) Kids might even have fun personalizing with some markers and  that will keep them a little busy for a couple extra minutes!

Screen Shot 2015-01-29 at 4.37.49 PM For those trying to watch what they eat, check out this Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus. It looks delicious, and I love the idea of a few guilt-free choices added to the mix. Check out more guilt-free ideas from Greatist blog.

Screen Shot 2015-01-29 at 4.52.11 PMFootball Ice Cream Sandwiches…. Just add some popsicle sticks and embellish with a little white icing. These were posted by The Celebration Shoppe and wouldn’t last in my home! I love the idea of using a sharpie to customize the sticks — it’s that attention to detail that will set you apart.

To include a little something for each team could also be fun. This Seahawks inspired desert from A Thrifty Mom looks delicious, but will also add some Seahawk colors and pop to your table.  As an unbiased viewer this year, I thought I would also share these Patriot inspired Rice Krispie Treats from Two Sisters Crafting . What an easy way to showcase a favorite player, and I don’t think I have met a person who doesn’t like the marhsmallow-ey goodness of a Rice Krispie.

Can’t forget some fruit – right? Who says we can’t have a little fun with the fruit. Candy Coated Apple Treats from Wilton will be a hit with just a little decorating. Who doesn’t love a crisp apple?

And last but not least, I wanted to share some suggestions to keep the crowd happy and entertained. It can’t always be just about the standard squares. I love this idea from Style Me Pretty for Superbowl Commercial Bingo. It might help balance out any commercials that don’t live up to the hype.  Paisley Petal Events posted these fun free printables and more to help you pull off your Superbowl party!

So, whether you choose to just order pizza or tackle a few new recipes or ideas, enjoy the game and all the hype that goes with this fun Sunday!

Drinks:  A glass (okay, maybe 2) of one of my favorites – Cabernet Franc from Reverie.

Music: Spotify streaming in the background while I fell into my Pinterest Holes!
